Robert Downy Jr. was spectacular as the Iron Man. He is good looking and has the right amount of smugness. I couldn't think of anyone who could have played the part better than he.
Tony Stark was a typical wealthy bachelor until he was kidnapped and held captive for three months by an enemy. By the way, can there ever be such a man without a likeness to stripper poles? Stark was asked to build a weapon of mass destruction and refused to do so until a classic case of washboarding. He then had an epiphany that changed his outlook on life and his profession.
He escaped and set out to save the world with a little help from his trusting assistant Pepper Potts, which Gwyneth Paltrow also played the part magnificent in a stunning pair of stilettos sandals. Yes women can run in those.
But of course when you change steer in a profession from which blood money is what you and others roll in, you become an outsider with partners turned enemies, such as Obadiah Stane, played by Jeff Bridges, the traitor suited as the Iron Monger.
Overall Iron Man was produced strategically . It is an action movie with the right amount of comedy for every one to enjoy; remember it is PG-13. Aside from men flying in the sky in bullet proof metal suits, it is current and realistic. Although with technology and science these days, who knows, there might already be a peace armor in development.
